YAY! New Smallville fic!

Written for svmadelyn's Smallville - SGA flashfiction challenge for the awesome thamiris.

I was totally happy to get assigned Tham to write for, because she's one of the first authors I read in SV and she was completely wonderful and sweet after I sent her a flailing, giddy, fangirly email. Tham's fics are...just freaking amazing, really, and I can't ever thank her enough for them all. *hugs*

Where Others Cannot See


The lights were dimmed and fat purple candles flickered atop every table and counter inside the Talon. Balloons in dark pink and gold were hovering near the ceiling. Glittery silver stars were sprinkled across the floor.

Lex let the door swing shut behind him and stopped a few steps into the coffeehouse, taking note of the smiling crowd and telling himself to remember to send a bonus to his event planners tomorrow morning. From the way Lana was beaming at him from across the room, he was almost sure she was pleased.

"Oh my gosh, Lex - thank you so much!" she said, running across the room and throwing her arms around his neck.

Lex smiled and patted her back. "I'm glad you like it, Lana. Happy birthday," he added, before kissing the side of her hair.

"It's great. It's perfect," she said. Someone Lex didn't recognize passed by and Lana quickly kissed them hello before turning back to him. "Really. It's just-"

"Your eighteenth birthday," Lex finished for her. Her cheeks flushed pink and she dropped her eyes. "It's supposed to be special," he said.

Lex was almost positive that his own eighteenth birthday had been quite special as well. So special he still didn't remember it. He had a vague recollection of strobe lights and a few tiny blue pills, but other than that - nothing.

"Well, it is," Lana said, interrupting his thoughts. She waved and started to walk back into the crowd of people. "Thank you again."

Lex drifted over to the buffet table, plucking a stuffed shrimp off the tray and popping it into his mouth. There was a punchbowl filled with something bright pink and fizzy-looking, and Lex curled his lip at it and reached for a bottle of water instead.

He could feel Clark before he even saw him. Could tell that Clark was walking up behind him just from the buzz in his head and the way his skin suddenly felt too thin and tight.

"Hey," Clark said right against his ear. Lex kept looking straight ahead and twisted the cap off his bottle of water. He took a long swallow and silently cursed the way the bottle slipped in his fingers.

"Clark," Lex answered. Somewhere behind him Lana laughed and Lex could hear Chloe and Lois arguing about something at the top of their lungs. He wondered yet again how he wound up still living in Smallville at this point in his life.

When Lex had lived in Metropolis he spent every night out at a different club with a different woman. Some of the most important decisions in his life back then were whether he wanted a blonde, brunette, or redhead, and if he wanted to smoke, snort or swallow his drug of choice for the night. Then his father sent him to Smallville, and now here he was, drinking bottled water at a coffeehouse and getting hard from the sound of his boyfriend's voice.

Lex turned around and smirked when he saw how close Clark was standing. His plaid shirt was blue with green threaded through it, and from this close Lex could see those same colors in Clark's eyes. He could smell Clark's cologne, could practically feel the way his skin would taste if Lex were to kiss him - right there - the soft spot just over the worn collar of his shirt.

"You forgot your boxers at the mansion last night," Lex said. He kept his voice low and ran his fingers lightly over the back of Clark's wrist.

Clark grinned at him, a little knowing and just a shade bad, and Lex was reminded at how this part of Clark was just his. That there was no one else in all of Smallville or MetU that ever saw this part of Clark Kent.

"Who said I forgot them?" Clark asked, leaning in closer than he needed to.

"Are you saying you left your boxers in my bed on purpose?" Lex could feel the huff of breath as Clark laughed softly and he shifted where he was standing, taking a small step away from Clark. Something was going on tonight, and before things went any further Lex wanted to know what it was.

"Clark," he said. Clark tried to move closer but Lex held up a hand and gave him a small shove back. "Stop. What's with the horny teenager routine?" He peered at Clark closely, causing Clark to roll his eyes. "You didn't stick any funny rocks in your pocket or anything, did you?"

Whatever sex-induced haze Clark had been under seemed to break at that, and this time when he laughed he actually took a step back. Lex felt like he could finally breathe again. Clark smiled at him brightly and leaned across the table, filling up a crystal mug with some of the noxious pink drink, taking a sip before making a face and putting the glass back on the table.

"No, I'm not on anything, Lex. Geez," Clark complained. He ran a hand through his hair, making it stand up in all different directions. Lex thought he looked about twelve years old and fought down the urge to pat his head. "Tell a guy your secret and he never lets you forget it."

The words were serious but Clark's tone was teasing, and once again Lex almost couldn't believe how lucky he was. He can vividly recall the day, six months ago, when Clark came to the mansion saying he needed to tell Lex things - all sorts of things and that he didn't know where to start. Lex led him into the office, made him sit on the couch, and poured himself a glass of scotch. He told Clark to just tell him the hardest thing first. If Clark could get that one out of the way the rest would fall into place.

It took a minute for Clark to agree, but when he did he stood up and crossed the room. Clark's hands were warm on Lex's face and his lips were soft and wet when he kissed him.

After that, the spaceship and heat vision and super speed suddenly didn't seem quite as important.

"You asking me to run away with you to Metropolis isn't something I'm going to forget in this lifetime, Clark," Lex said, hoping to get his thoughts back to tonight and Lana's party. He already spent far too much time in his life thinking about the first night he fucked Clark over the back of his office couch as it was. "Really, though," Lex said, smiling at a group of giggling girls as they walked in front of them, "What's gotten into you tonight?"

Clark shrugged and shifted closer so his right side was pressed against Lex's left. Lex could feel the heat from Clark's body through the thin material of his dress-shirt and pants. "I don't know. Nothing, I guess. I just-"

He faltered and Lex turned to look at him quickly. "Is something wrong?" Clark had definitely been acting strange, and while Lex had thought it was just him joking around, maybe it was more than that. Something could be wrong - after all, Clark hadn't been to Smallville in a few weeks. Who knew what sort of meteor mutation might have happened between his last visit and-

"I just realized how much I miss this sometimes," Clark said quietly, reaching out to touch Lex's sleeve. Lex looked up and Clark was smiling at him sadly. "I like MetU just fine, but I just… Sometimes I really miss how it was when I was living here. Getting to see you all the time. Just showing up at the mansion to play pool or just…" he shrugged again. "I don't know. Maybe it's stupid."

"No, it's not," Lex interrupted . "It's different now, a different part of your life. And while I fail to see the attraction of Smallville myself…"

Clark was watching him, looking at him so seriously, and suddenly Lex felt like the dimmest man on the planet because Clark missed him. Clark missed him and maybe even loved him, and he was standing here, teasing him about red meteor rocks when he could be doing…other things instead.

Lex smiled slowly and slid the arm that Clark was still holding out from his grasp. He curled his fingers around Clark's wrist and tugged hard, walking them toward the back of the Talon. "Come on," Lex said.

"Wait. Where are we-"

Lex turned around and glared at him. "Clark. Quiet."

Luckily, the buffet they'd been hovering near was set up toward the back of the restaurant anyway, so they didn't have far to go before they were away from Lana and Chloe and everyone else who they knew and had to talk to that night. Lex flicked off the hall light that led to the back offices, feeling his way down the hallway in the dark.

"Lex," Clark said, his voice breathless and amused. "What are you-"

It was only because Lex had the element of surprise on his side that he was actually able to push Clark up against the wall outside his office and hold him there with one hand. He heard Clark's startled gasp just before Lex leaned forward and kissed him, licking his way into Clark's mouth and chasing away every last trace of strawberry punch from his tongue.

And it was even hotter for Lex to kiss Clark now that it was a familiar thing. Because it was his. Kissing Clark the first few times was strange and wonderful because it was new, but now, every kiss between them was a promise. Every time Clark kissed Lex's mouth or pulled back to softly breathe his name, it was because Clark was with him. Clark wanted him. Lex had wanted Clark for longer than he could remember, and now Clark was his.

"Lex, Lex-" Clark panted against his mouth, his hands frantically pulling Lex's shirt from his pants. Clark's hands were calloused and work-rough and Lex shivered as they scraped up his chest. He dimly heard the buttons popping as Clark pulled his shirt open and he ignored the sound the thin silk of his shirt made as it ripped between Clark's fingers. Instead he decided to concentrate on the way Clark's breath felt against his skin, and the way Clark was running his teeth across Lex's collarbone.

"Wait - Clark. One second." Clark made a sound between a grunt and a growl as Lex pulled back, but Lex had maybe two brain cells still firing and one of them was telling him it might be a good idea to get into the office and out of the middle of the goddamn hallway.

He fumbled for the keys in his pocket, nearly dropping them when Clark nudged up behind him, pressing his body all along Lex's back. Clark was hard - Lex could feel it through his pants and Clark's jeans, and he couldn't stop himself from taking his left hand and reaching back, pulling Clark harder against him, as he finally managed to unlock the office door with his right.

Clark followed him into the office and flicked the lights on, but Lex immediately turned them back off. "People will see the light and follow," Lex carefully explained, giving Clark a small shove back against the wall.

"Are we really doing this here?" Clark asked breathlessly. Lex could feel the curve of his lips smiling against Lex's neck, and from the way Clark was pushing against Lex's hip he didn't think Clark really had a problem with it.

"Yes." Lex carefully pushed the buttons of Clark's shirt through the holes. He would never get over how soft Clark's skin felt under his lips. The feel of Clark's heartbeat under his mouth as Lex kissed his chest.

"People are going to be looking for us." Clark's voice was low and smooth and Lex smiled against his skin. He ran his teeth along the underside of Clark's jaw and wished that he wasn't an alien; that he could be bruised and marked and that Lex could be the one to do it. "They might start to wonder-"

"Clark." Lex paused a moment to snicker. "No one is going to wonder anything. I think they already know," he finished on a whisper.

"Yeah," Clark laughed quietly. Lex tugged him closer. "It's just - don't forget I have to leave again tomorrow," Clark said, gripping Lex's hips again. "I want to spend the night in your bed."

"You will," Lex told him. "After this."

Clark's teeth were sharp against Lex's jaw, and Lex let his head fall back against the palm of Clark's hand as Clark kissed his way to Lex's ear. "Okay," Clark whispered.

Outside the room Lex could still hear the muffled sounds from the party; music playing and people laughing and singing. But in here there was nothing but darkness and quiet and the soft sounds of their matching breaths.

"Lex. God," Clark panted as Lex popped the button on Clark's jeans. Lex dragged the zipper down slowly, loving how Clark would kiss him harder and more desperately the longer Lex teased him. Clark's boxers had a damp spot in the front and Lex roughly palmed Clark's cock before shoving them down his hips. Clark whimpered into Lex's mouth as Lex took Clark in his hand.

"Look at you," Lex teased, rubbing his thumb over the head of Clark's dick. "Like you were really going to wait until we were at the mansion?" Clark gasped and pulled his head back, and Lex could just barely see as he let his head fall back against the door and bit his lip. "You wanted this as much as I did."

Clark's hips jerked forward and Lex leaned in and kissed him. Clark panted and groaned into his mouth and his hands were moving quickly across Lex's body. Against Lex's chest, his back, around his waist. Lex could feel Clark's fingers opening and closing at his hips, could taste Clark's desperate breaths on his tongue. Clark's movements were getting jerkier - more erratic - and more than anything Lex wanted to feel him, see him, make him come.

Shoving his own pants down his legs, Lex broke the kiss and wrapped his fingers around both of them at the same time. He leaned forward to look down and see his hand - to see the way he looked with his hand wrapped around him and Clark - and then Clark leaned forward until their foreheads were touching, and tightly curled his fingers around Lex's.

"I'm not gonna last," Clark breathed out, moving both their hands faster. "I want you to take me home and fuck me." Lex could feel sweat trickling down his back. He squeezed his eyes shut and felt their hands slipping as they got even wetter.

"I think about that all the time," Clark breathed. He dropped his head to Lex's shoulder and thrust his hips up off the wall. "About how you fuck me in your bed or in your office-"

"Clark-"

"And then I think how I want to do that to you. How I want to - shit - Lex, I'm gonna-"

Lex kissed Clark hard as he started to come, Clark's body jerking against his as he came all over both their hands. Clark moaned and panted into his mouth. Lex could feel Clark's heart beating under the palm of his hand.

"Clark," Lex said, but then Clark was gone, dropping to his knees and Lex had to slap both hands against the wall in front of him to keep from falling down.

"Fuck - Clark-" Lex let his head fall forward and watched as Clark wrapped his lips around his cock and started sucking. Clark's mouth was wet and hot and he shivered when Clark grazed him with his teeth. Lex pulled back one hand and let it sink into the silky strands of Clark's hair, gently brushing it away from his face, memorizing the way Clark looked with his eyes closed and Lex's cock sliding between his lips.

It was almost too much - too much seeing, too much feeling - and Lex was able to last only until Clark opened his eyes and looked up at him. There wasn't a room dark enough that could hide the look in Clark's eyes, and Lex's bones nearly melted as his orgasm ripped through him. Clark stayed with him until he was finished, then leaned back and wiped the back of his hand across his mouth, smiling almost wickedly.

Sometimes Lex wished he and Clark had had more time together when he was still in Smallville, but when Clark smiles at him the way he was now, Lex knew that this Clark isn't the same farmboy that he knew back then. He knew that that Clark Kent never would have blown Lex in the back room of the Talon at Lana's birthday party, for god's sake, and Lex wouldn't trade his Clark for all the extra time in the world.

Lex reached down and hauled Clark to his feet, kissing him until he chased his own taste out of Clark's mouth.

"Always remember, Clark," Lex said, smiling slowly. "Never doubt my ideas." He could feel Clark's thumb brush across his lips and he kissed the rough skin before taking it between his teeth.

"I completely stand corrected," Clark said. He was trying to be serious but Lex could hear the laughter almost breaking through. "That was the best idea ever."

Lex chuckled softly and reached down to pull his pants up. His shirt was ruined - he'd just add it to the collection of shirts that were destroyed from having the buttons ripped off or the seams torn - and Clark smiled at him sheepishly as he pulled his clothes back on as well.

"Uhm, sorry about that."

"That's all right," Lex said. He pulled the shirt closed in front of him and held it together with one hand. "I'll just add it to your tab."

"Yeah. That tab's getting pretty high now, isn't it?" Clark flicked the light on and Lex squinted at the sudden brightness. Clark's hair was sticking up in all different directions and his shirt was buttoned wrong. Lex didn't look down, but he was almost positive that he looked nearly as bad.

"Your tab is…" Lex trailed off and shook his head. "Gigantic. Food. Ruined clothes. Condoms." He ticked the items off one at a time on his fingers until he heard Clark start to laugh and the next thing he knew Clark's hand was wrapped around the back of his neck and he was kissing him.

"I guess I'll just have to figure out a way to pay you back," Clark said against his lips.

"Oh, that might get interesting," Lex said. Clark was kissing below his ear though so he might not have sounded all that convincing. "I wonder what job I could give you first. Mowing the grounds-"

"Lex."

"Polishing the brass-"

Clark frowned. "Now you're being an idiot."

"Alphabetizing the spices." Lex was smiling and Clark just shook his head.

"Goodbye, Lex. I'll meet you at the mansion."

Clark kissed him quickly on the lips, and before Lex could comprehend what was happening the papers on his desk were lifting in the breeze and Clark was gone. Now that Clark was gone Lex could hear the sounds of the party from down the hall and he knew he should probably go back there. He was half-owner of the Talon - Lana's business partner and friend.

His cell phone rang as he was standing there and Lex flipped it open not even having to look and see who it was. "Yes?"

"I'm already in your bed," Clark said, his voice soft and sounding like sex. "Where are you?"

Lex left the office and quietly made it to the back door of the Talon. He pushed it open and stepped into the cool, night air, smiling to himself. "I'm on my way," he told Clark, before snapping the phone shut and walking to his car.
